Rich Chocolate Pound Cake

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Stir in the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. In a small saucepan, heat the cream until just simmering. Remove from heat and stir in the dark and white chocolate chips until melted and smooth. Let cool for 10 minutes.
  7. In a small bowl, beat together the cream cheese and powdered sugar until light and fluffy. Spread over the cooled cake.
  8. Drizzle the cooled chocolate mixture over the cream cheese layer and let set before serving. Enjoy!
