Pecan and Date Scones
A delicious treat perfect for any gathering or occasion, these Pecan and Date Scones combine sweet dates and crunchy pecans for a unique and flavorful treat.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup cold butter, cut into small pieces
- 3/4 cup chopped dates
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the butter using a pastry blender or two knives until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the dates and pecans. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and vanilla extract. Add to the dry ingredients, and mix until just combined.
- Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead a few times. Pat dough into a circle about 1/2-inch thick. Cut into 8 wedges. Place scones on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake in preheated oven for 15 to 18 minutes, until golden. Transfer to a wire rack to cool.
