This Vanilla Gateau with French Buttercream is an indulgent and delicious dessert. The moist vanilla cake is layered with a creamy french buttercream and topped with a sprinkling of icing sugar. This delectable treat is sure to impress your family and friends!
Ingredients:
- 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup butter, room temperature
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup whole milk
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons heavy cream
- Icing sugar, for sprinkling
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour three 8-inch round cake pans.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating after each addition. Beat in vanilla extract.
- Slowly add dry ingredients to wet ingredients and mix until combined. Gradually add milk and mix until incorporated.
- Divide batter evenly between the prepared cake pans. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- To make the French buttercream, beat together powdered sugar, butter, vanilla, and cream until light and fluffy.
- Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread ½ cup of buttercream over the top. Top with second cake layer and spread with another ½ cup of buttercream. Top with third layer and spread remaining buttercream over the top and sides of cake.
- Sprinkle with icing sugar and serve.
