Ingredients:

Cake:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, melted
  • 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
  • Zest of 1 orange

Cinnamon Glaze:

  • 1 cup confectioners’ sugar
  • 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan and set aside.

  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, cloves, and salt.

  3. In a large bowl, beat together the melted butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time.

  4. Add in the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Stir in the orange juice and zest.

  5. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  6. Allow the cake to cool completely before glazing.

  7. To make the glaze, whisk together the confectioners’ sugar, orange juice, heavy cream, and cinnamon until smooth.

  8. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled cake and enjoy!
