Shrimp and Grits Pie

This classic Southern dish gets a new twist with this Shrimp and Grits Pie. Combining creamy grits, succulent shrimp, and a flaky crust, this dish is sure to be a hit!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup uncooked grits
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 lb. medium shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 1/4 cup diced onion
  • 1/4 cup diced bell pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 cup white wine
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1 (9-inch) prepared pie crust

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F. In a medium saucepan, bring grits and broth to a boil. Reduce heat to low and stir in 1/2 cup butter, cheese, salt, and garlic powder. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat 1/4 cup butter over medium-high heat. Add mushrooms, onion, bell pepper, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add shrimp and cook for 3 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add white wine and cook for 1 minute, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and stir in parsley and cilantro. Set aside.
  3. Spread cooled grits in the bottom of the prepared pie crust. Top with shrimp mixture. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until top is golden brown. Serve warm.
