This delicious Royal Icing Sugar Cookie recipe is perfect for any celebration! Start by gathering the ingredients: 3 cups all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon baking soda, 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, 1 cup granulated sugar, 1 large egg, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, and 2 tablespoons of milk.

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and baking soda. In a separate bowl, cream the butter and sugar together with an electric mixer. Add the egg, vanilla extract, and milk and mix until all ingredients are fully combined. Gradually add the dry ingredients and mix until a soft dough forms.

Chill the dough for 1 hour. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Roll the cookie dough out to 1/4-inch thickness. Cut out shapes and place them 1 inch apart on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 9-11 minutes. Allow to cool for 5 minutes, then transfer to a cooling rack to cool completely.

Once the cookies are completely cool, it’s time to make the royal icing! Combine 1/4 cup meringue powder, 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar, and 2 pounds of powdered sugar in a large bowl. Add 1/2 cup of water and beat with an electric mixer for 7 minutes. The icing should be stiff and glossy.

Using a piping bag, pipe the royal icing onto the cooled cookies. Allow to dry for several hours before serving. Enjoy! #RoyalIcingCookie #Baking #Delicious #Yum
