Orange Zest Banoffee Pie

A decadent dessert perfect for any occasion, this Orange Zest Banoffee Pie is the perfect combination of sweet and tart. A crunchy graham cracker crust is filled with a creamy banana-based filling, topped with a layer of caramel, and garnished with freshly grated orange zest. A treat that will make your taste buds sing!

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ cups graham cracker crumbs
  • ¼ cup melted butter
  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons fresh orange zest
  • 1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons confectioners’ sugar
  • Extra orange zest, for garnish

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, mix together graham cracker crumbs and melted butter until evenly combined. Press mixture into a 9-inch pie dish. Bake for 12 minutes, until golden brown. Remove from oven and let cool.
  3. In a large bowl, mix together mashed bananas, sugar, vanilla extract, and orange zest. Spread banana mixture over cooled crust.
  4. In a medium saucepan, heat sweetened condensed milk over medium heat until it begins to bubble. Reduce heat to low and cook for 6 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  5. Pour cooled condensed milk over banana layer. Refrigerate for at least 3 hours to let set.
  6. In a medium bowl, whip cream until soft peaks form. Add confectioners’ sugar and continue to whip until stiff peaks form. Spread over cooled condensed milk layer.
  7. Garnish with freshly grated orange zest. Slice and serve.
