Orange Zest Banoffee Pie
A decadent dessert perfect for any occasion, this Orange Zest Banoffee Pie is the perfect combination of sweet and tart. A crunchy graham cracker crust is filled with a creamy banana-based filling, topped with a layer of caramel, and garnished with freshly grated orange zest. A treat that will make your taste buds sing!
Ingredients:
- 1 ½ cups graham cracker crumbs
- ¼ cup melted butter
- 3 ripe bananas, mashed
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons fresh orange zest
- 1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
- ½ cup heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons confectioners’ sugar
- Extra orange zest, for garnish
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a medium bowl, mix together graham cracker crumbs and melted butter until evenly combined. Press mixture into a 9-inch pie dish. Bake for 12 minutes, until golden brown. Remove from oven and let cool.
- In a large bowl, mix together mashed bananas, sugar, vanilla extract, and orange zest. Spread banana mixture over cooled crust.
- In a medium saucepan, heat sweetened condensed milk over medium heat until it begins to bubble. Reduce heat to low and cook for 6 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- Pour cooled condensed milk over banana layer. Refrigerate for at least 3 hours to let set.
- In a medium bowl, whip cream until soft peaks form. Add confectioners’ sugar and continue to whip until stiff peaks form. Spread over cooled condensed milk layer.
- Garnish with freshly grated orange zest. Slice and serve.
