Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup orange yogurt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 2 tbsp orange juice
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour an 8 inch square pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and 3/4 cup of sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the yogurt and vanilla. Beat in the flour mixture alternately with the orange juice. Spread evenly into the prepared pan.
  4. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes in the preheated oven, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
  5. In a small saucepan, combine the 1/2 cup sugar, 1/4 cup butter and 2 tablespoons of orange juice. Bring to a boil and stir until the sugar is dissolved. Remove from the heat and stir in the cinnamon. Drizzle over the cooled cake.
