Maple Oat Scones

These Maple Oat Scones are a delicious breakfast treat! They have a light, flaky texture and are filled with sweet maple flavor. They are perfect for a cozy morning or with your morning cup of coffee or tea.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
  • 1/2 cup cold buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, oats, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
  3. Add cubed butter to the flour mixture and use a pastry blender to cut the butter into the flour until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in buttermilk and maple syrup until combined.
  5. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 1-2 minutes.
  6. Roll the dough out to 1/2-inch thickness and cut with a 2-inch round biscuit cutter.
  7. Place scones on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Allow to cool before serving.
