Maple Oat Scones
These Maple Oat Scones are a delicious breakfast treat! They have a light, flaky texture and are filled with sweet maple flavor. They are perfect for a cozy morning or with your morning cup of coffee or tea.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
- 1/2 cup cold buttermilk
- 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 375°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, oats, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
- Add cubed butter to the flour mixture and use a pastry blender to cut the butter into the flour until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in buttermilk and maple syrup until combined.
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 1-2 minutes.
- Roll the dough out to 1/2-inch thickness and cut with a 2-inch round biscuit cutter.
- Place scones on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Allow to cool before serving.
