These decadent cupcakes are a perfect combination of sweet and savory! A fluffy maple-flavored cupcake is topped with a creamy maple buttercream, and finished off with a crispy bacon sprinkle for the ultimate indulgence.

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 4 strips of bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon maple extract
  • 4 tablespoons heavy cream

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line a 12-cup muffin tin with cupcake liners.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the sugar, oil, eggs, vanilla extract, maple syrup, and buttermilk until smooth.
  4. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and whisk until just combined. Stir in the crumbled bacon.
  5. Fill the cupcake liners 3/4 full with batter and bake for 20-22 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  6. Let cupcakes cool completely before frosting.
  7. In a large bowl, beat the butter until light and fluffy. Add the powdered sugar, maple extract, and heavy cream and beat until combined.
  8. Frost cooled cupcakes and top with extra bacon crumbles, if desired.
