Ingredients:

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup confectioners’ sugar

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease baking sheets.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. Add the red food coloring and vanilla extract and mix until blended.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, stirring until combined.
  6. In a small bowl, combine the cream cheese and confectioners’ sugar and mix until smooth.
  7. Drop tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets. Make an indentation in the center of each cookie with the back of a spoon.
  8. Place a teaspoon of the cream cheese mixture into the center of each cookie. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown. Allow to cool before serving.
