Cinnamon Apple Scones with Vanilla Drizzle
These delicious cinnamon apple scones are the perfect treat for breakfast or brunch. They are packed with sweet cinnamon flavor and topped with a creamy vanilla drizzle that will have your taste buds singing. Enjoy these treats warm from the oven or at room temperature.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 6 tablespoons cold unsalted butter, cut into cubes
- 1/2 cup cold heavy cream
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup diced apples, peeled (about one large apple)
- Vanilla drizzle: 1/4 cup powdered sugar, 1 tablespoon heavy cream and 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, cinnamon and salt.
- Add the cold butter to the dry ingredients and cut in with a pastry blender or fork until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the cream, egg and vanilla extract. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix just until everything is combined. Fold in the diced apples.
- Use a large cookie scoop to scoop the dough onto the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 15-17 minutes until the scones are lightly golden. Allow them to cool for 5 minutes before serving.
- To make the vanilla drizzle, whisk together the powdered sugar, cream and vanilla extract. Drizzle over the scones and serve.
