Cinnamon Apple Scones with Vanilla Drizzle

These delicious cinnamon apple scones are the perfect treat for breakfast or brunch. They are packed with sweet cinnamon flavor and topped with a creamy vanilla drizzle that will have your taste buds singing. Enjoy these treats warm from the oven or at room temperature.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 6 tablespoons cold unsalted butter, cut into cubes
  • 1/2 cup cold heavy cream
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup diced apples, peeled (about one large apple)
  • Vanilla drizzle: 1/4 cup powdered sugar, 1 tablespoon heavy cream and 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, cinnamon and salt.
  3. Add the cold butter to the dry ingredients and cut in with a pastry blender or fork until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together the cream, egg and vanilla extract. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix just until everything is combined. Fold in the diced apples.
  5. Use a large cookie scoop to scoop the dough onto the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 15-17 minutes until the scones are lightly golden. Allow them to cool for 5 minutes before serving.
  6. To make the vanilla drizzle, whisk together the powdered sugar, cream and vanilla extract. Drizzle over the scones and serve.
