Cardamom-Spiced Orange Cake with Cardamom Icing

This delicious cake is the perfect way to bring a little bit of spice into your baking. With a light, fluffy orange cake and a creamy cardamom icing, it’s sure to be a hit!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon cardamom
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup buttermilk
  • 2 tablespoons orange zest
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon cardamom

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cardamom. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, beat together the sugar and oil until combined. Add egg, vanilla, orange juice, and buttermilk and mix until combined. Slowly add the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  4. Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow to cool completely.
  5. In a medium bowl, beat together the butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy. Add milk and cardamom and beat until combined. Spread over cooled cake.
