Almond and Sour Cherry Cookies
These Almond and Sour Cherry Cookies are the perfect combination of sweet and tart flavors. The almond extract adds a hint of richness and the sour cherries a zesty bite. The cookies are simple to make and the perfect addition to your cookie tray.
Ingredients:
- 2 and 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- 1 and 1/2 cups dried sour cherries, chopped
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, beat together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and almond extract until combined.
- Mix in the flour mixture until just combined. Stir in the cherries.
- Drop the dough by the tablespoonful onto the prepared baking sheets. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the edges are lightly golden.
- Let cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
