Maple-Pecan Scones

These maple-pecan scones are a delicious treat that will make your taste buds sing. The combination of maple syrup, pecans, and buttermilk creates a light and fluffy texture that is sure to please.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cut into small pieces
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup pecans, chopped

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
  3. Using a pastry cutter or your fingertips, cut the cold butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, maple syrup, egg, and vanilla extract.
  5. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chopped pecans, being careful not to overmix the dough.
  7. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead it gently a few times until it comes together.
  8. Form the dough into a disk about 1 inch (2.5 cm) thick and cut it into 8 equal wedges.
  9. Place the scones on the prepared baking sheet and brush the tops with a little bit of buttermilk.
  10. Bake for 18-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  11. Serve warm or at room temperature.
